-A 24 year old, married woman, resident of Taloja, phase -2, Navi Mumbai came for consultation with missed periods, positive pregnancy test and unwillingness to continue with pregnancy.
-In her history taking she revealed that she is on insulin for Diabetes Mellitus for last couple of years.
-She opted for abortion tablets after undergoing necessary testing including ultrasound and CBC.
-She was married only for a few months and was currently pursuing her career.
-She had also taken emergency contraceptive pill which failed to prevent pregnancy.
-The point here is that this kind of patient has got very limited choice of regular contraception method as hormonal pills/ hormonal injections/ hormonal or non-hormonal intra- uterine devices can not be used for these patients.
-Non hormonal pill - Ormiloxiifene  can be give but its effects of delaying the menstrual cycle causes distress to the patient.
-Using condoms remains only choice.

Real Women - Real Experiences- 31.1.19, One With Missed Abortion

A 25 year old married woman, resident of Road Pali, Raigad, has been consulting with us for past 6 months. The couple has been married for 2 years and have been trying to achieve pregnancy ever since.
Menstrual cycles have been irregular for the woman, and she was diagnosed as PCOS.
Multiple ovulation induction cycles failed to make her ovulate and she was referred to higher Fertility center for further treatment.
She did not follow our advise and stayed at home.
She conceived spontaneously but fetal cardiac ( heart ) activity did not come and pregnancy was non- viable.
We opted for a combination of oral tablets- Mifepristone + Misoprost as a method of termination ( abortion )
The process was uneventful .
By opting for this method, hospital stay, expense, instrumentation of uterus, anesthesia risk- all were avoided.

A young woman of age 25 years, a resident of sector- 6, Kharghar,Navi Mumbai, came for consultation of early pregnancy.
She had a girl child who is 4 years old. She gave history of multiple MTP ( Medical Termination of Pregnancy ) as she was not ready to continue with these pregnancies.
This time the case was different and she was desirous of going ahead with child bearing.
The life situation was such that she could not leave her profession as a dance teacher, and her husband was not doing well in his work place.
Weighing the circumstances, the couple decided against continuation of pregnancy.

The point here is that living cost in a metro city is sky high which includes, rentals, education at a very exorbitant rates.
Life decisions are made based on that, and not on choices.
Financial well being takes an upper hand as compared to other factors.
Lack of family support also matters as people are no longer living in their ancestral homes.

There is no preaching or teaching happening here.
This is what it is.
Stark reality of life.
Take it or leave it.

A 26 year old woman  from Road Pali, Navi Mumbai came with an early pregnancy. 
It was her 4th pregnancy. She had a 2 year old daughter subsequent to which she had taken abortion pills twice.
This time the case was even stranger as she presented as a case of contraceptive failure. 
She gave history of regularly taking Ormiloxafene (Novex DS) tablets as per instructions and yet she conceived.
Every contraceptive method comes with its inherent failure rates.
The important thing is that even though a woman may be using contraception regularly, yet if she misses her menses she should contact Gynaecologist at the earliest to check herself for the pregnancy so that it can be taken care of within reasonable period by taking tablets.
