                     First case of unmarried woman wanting to continue early pregnancy

-A 24 year old young unmarried working woman , resident of Mankhurd, Mumbai, came for consultation with positive pregnancy test.

-As is our routine practice, we asked her, whether she would like to continue or discontinue with her pregnancy.

-Her answer came as , primarily, she would like to continue with her pregnancy but still she would go back to her home and discuss with her parents before taking a decision.

-Her partner was with her and he too agreed with her thought process.

-In 17 years of my practice, this was the first time that I saw unmarried couple taking path of continuation.Rest all of them have opted for termination of pregnancy due to financial, social, emotional and so many other factors.

-A couple of days passed, she again came back to us but this time to opt for abortion pills.

-Her parents strongly condemned her life choices.

-The point her is , that we are progressing towards sexual behaviour liberation and pre- marital sex. We want to enjoy sex but not take responsibility of life that gets created as its outcome .

-The change in outlook , though it happened in the couple but family and social environment was not supportive
