Factors determining continuation or discontinuation of pregnancy

A young couple, resident of Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, experienced missed abortion followed by DNC soon after couple of months of their marriage.

They were devastated.

All investigations to find out cause of mishappening were done and they were normal.

After couple of months when they conceived again, it was natural on our part to think that they will continue.

But they did not.

The reasons were social and monetary .

In these challenging, disruptive and uncertain times, I have lot of sympathy for those who are dealing with unwanted pregnancy.

The Gynecologist's clinic is not open for routine consultation

Ultrasound is very difficult to get done

If any complication arises, it seems very difficult to manage as personal vehicles are stopped, no petrol is available for them and so on and so forth.

What is the solution..?

Does not seem to be any....

Only thing is that electively we can postpone procedure of abortion for another month.

It is true that, after a month Abortion tablets can't be given but surgical cleaning known as D&E can be done safely upto 12 weeks of duration.

This is my sincere advise to of them who are struggling with unwanted/ undesired pregnancy, to wait, let this period pass and then only act.

A woman visited to the clinic for unwanted pregnancy.
According to her, she had menstruated normally last month.
She had 2 living children , both born by LSCS

She was willing to take abortion pills and questioned us the need for ultrasound as according to her the pregnancy was very early.

We counselled her regarding safety protocols that we follow for every patient & she agreed.

Upon sonography, it was found to be a pregnancy of 8 weeks duration, she couldn't believe that.

A surgical MTP by D&E was done as medical abortion by tablet method is not safe when pregnancy is large.

The point here is that safety precautions are always followed at our clinic  for each and every patient.
